1995 Buick Regal Stuck in park

Cannot get the transmission to shift from park. The brake system is working, all fuses are good, brake lights work and brake pedal switch is working. Even with the linkage disconnected the transmission will not shift from park. Is the problem the transmission or electrical?

It could be stuck in the trans or you might be trying to move the lever the wrong way. If it's the trans it could have slipped pas the lock mechanism. The only way to see is drop the pan and look then. But with your mileage I wouldn't reccomend it due to adding new oil would eat the clutchs up. Let a trans pro look at it or call him up and see if he can give you some advice as there might be a known problem
