I broke off a "computer chip" key in the ignition of my 1994 Buick Regal Custom. I watched as the locksmith disassembled The steering column in order to get the key code necessary to make a new key.

I only just now noticed, eight months or so later, that my cruise control doesn't work at all, and I'm pretty sure it hasn't worked since that day, and I know that it worked prior to the locksmith's "intervention."

What do you think could be the problem?

Cordially, etc.

First may want to inspect the brake lights. If they are working then check fuses. When you try to turn on the cruise control, does the cruise indicator light come on at all in the instrument cluster?

Seems like your cruise control switch is not operating than. There could have been a wire connection knocked loose during the previous repair in the steering column.
