1993 Buick Regal 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I turned car off but keep running. Realized key wouldn't shut car off. Didn't lock like normal just turned from one extreme to other. Believe the ignition where key goes in is broke stripped or something. Anyway had to choke the car to shut off. When put key in won't initiate anything and realize the warning lts stay on because key was never able to turn off. How hard what kind of tools and is it probably just the key and lock assembly?

It sounds like the rod that attaches the tumbler to the ignition switch is broken or disconnected. If you want to try it yourself, you need to remove the steering wheel and part of the column to get to it. You will need a puller to remove the steering wheel but from there, standard tools will be ok. You may want to get a repair manual for this because it gets a little involved.
