1987 Buick Regal 200 miles

I've tried 2 new Alternators on this vehicle. The first one lasted about a month I purchased from Auto Zone. I checked after installing and it was putting out 14 volts. The way I can tell is that my signal lights would start blinking really slow. I check the Alternator and it wasn't putting out any voltage. I ordered another new alternator (AC Delco). Install it, check voltage, it was putting out 14 Volts. Four days later I notice my signal lights was blinking slow again. I check the Alternator and again it wasn't putting out any voltage. I took both alternator to the part store to have them tested. They both pass the test 3 times. I came back and put I on my car. No Voltage.

Things I've done and check. I've check all wires going from alternator to battery, from battery to starter and engine ground. The battery is new, the starter is new, the belt is new, the belt tension is new and all the battery cables are new. Gentlemen, what is the problem here?

I can relate to the frustration. IF this were mine.I would get another alternator. I know what your thinking. In my experience. Auto Zone electrical products are undependable. Also. So have been ac delco alternators. I have also found that in cases of multple failure alternators that there is something being done incorrectly during the repair. The worst offenders are the ones that are intermittant.

The rebuilder replaces certain parts, tests it, and puts it on the shelf. IT tested good at that moment. Heat perhaps? Regardless of the reason I would look at USA brand or Napa premium. These two have been depenable for me overall.
