My vehicle is a 1992 Buick Park Avenue with approx. 103,000 miles and the engine has 3800 stamped on its cowling, if I am not mistaken. I believe the A/C needs recharged desperately, the fan blows through but the air never changes temperature significantly as compared to that of the vent. I have checked on the system itself for a label denoting the coolant type but can find none and all information I have found online denotes that this year was right on the cusp of the change over from R-12 to R-134 but nothing specific to my vehicle. Please help me determine the correct refrigerant to use.

In the 90 they changed from r-12 to r-134 because of envirmental hazard. If the vehicle has not been changed to r-134 then it will have to be. You can buy kits from a local auto store and change it if it is completly empty.
