Gas gauge is below the pin on the empty side of the gauge?

The pointer on my gas gage is below the pin on the empty side of the gauge. How do I repair this or get the pointer back into operation?

The fault is most likely the sender in the fuel tank. Here is the instructions on how to change the sender out. Check out the images (Below). Please let us know what happens.
