1997 Buick Park Avenue car not getting gas

My car stalls when I try to give it alot of gas. It rides for a little while then it seems like gas isnt getting to the engine and stalls. What could this be?

When was the last time you changed the Fuel Filter?

Yes my service engine soon light came on after I filled up my gas tank at the gas station. I have not changed my fuel filter.

Ok, try this first take your gas cap off and just place it on loosely. Drive the vehicle. If vehicle does fine with no problem replace gas cap.

If still having problem replace fuel filter and see what happens.

Also if you can the vehicle to your local auto parts store have them pull codes. Write the codes down and post them here.
