Driving home on a very rainy night had sudden loss of power steering and the battery warning light coming on at the same time. What could be the problem

Hi there,

it sounds like the alternator belt has failed and taken the power steering belt as well, lift the bonnet and check for missing drive belts. I am unsure if your car is multi belt or serpentine belt, (one belt drives every thing) but regardless I feel it is a belt broken.
