I have a 1993 Buick Park Avenue with the 3.8 non supercharge. It has an automatic transmission with about 208K. The car was taking to AAMCO today and they said it is a electrical problem probably a sensor or bad wire. They now want 90.00 dollars a hour with a minimum of 2 hours to diagnoses further. What the problem is it seems to have no first gear. Once you are up to about 30 it seems to run and shift fine. It also works fine in reverse. I have checked the fluid it doesn’t seem to be burnt and it is just below the full line color looks good also. When I start off it doesn’t seem to slip and the transmission shop said the same thing it just seems like I have to give it a lot of gas like I'm trying to start in second or possible third gear. Please help Thanks

Electrical problems are usually done on an hourly basis instead of a flat-rate, due to the fact that it isnt simply a part being replaced but wires being checked and and the such, more time consuming. Did they happen to tell you if there were any codes in the PCM? That will help guide the diagnosis. This could be a bad solenoid or something of that nature.
