Hi,

I purchased a Street Rod with a 1994 3800 Buick engine and associated electricals including the dash. Every time the ignition is turned on the "Service Engine Soon" sign light up for about 5 seconds. I have since learned that the engine locks into a predetermined running mode, possible with very poor fuel performance. As I noticed. Prior to delivery the car was sitting in a warehouse for 9 months and the battery was completely drained and hat to be replaced. A number of electrical bits do not work either, speedo, fuel and temp gauge, signal horn and dash light.
My question. How can I reset the computer to zero? Or a "normal" running state, or what is the recommended course of action?
Any feedback welcome.

Cheers,
Woddchisel

There is no reset procedure, it will run better once the problem is fixed. First we need to find out what code is stored in the engine. You will need to find the diagnostic connector, probably located under dash on drivers side and there are a bunch of letters on the diagnostic connector. Using a jumper wire jump a terminal to b terminal and turn on igntion and cound the flashes from the check engine light. For example one flash then 3 flashes is code thirteen. It will repeat each code three times then stop at code 12. Find the code number and get back to us.
