The owners manual does not show how to replace headlights bulbs. Another owner says it is a major repair issue in that you might have to remove the front bumper facia or more to reach the bulbs. Is this something the average car owner could do with a bit
of mechanical knowledge?

According the manual, it says the front bumper/fascia needs to be removed to access the headlamp assembly. Here are the instructions in the diagrams below. Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

I have the CXL model. I replaced the high beam with a pair of HID bulbs and now they will not turn on.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros. Com.

The vehicle is designed to use a halogen bulb and not HID. These two bulb types work in very different ways. Replace the bulbs with the same type you removed and they should work. If they do not, let me know.

Take care,
Joe

Have you checked to see if there is power to the light socket? Also, have you checked the fuses under the hood? Check fuses 10 and 11 under hood. They are specifically for high beam (left and right).

See the two attached pictures.

Let me know what you find.
Joe

I replaced the fuses with 20 amps because that is what the instructions said then just to make sure I plugged the old halogen bulbs in and they light right up.

I have a feeling the bulb type you purchased is wrong. LED/HID will not work. It requires an igniter to make them work. Recheck to confirm the new ones are not HID. If they are, you need a halogen type bulb.

If that is not the case, then you must have gotten two bad bulbs. If possible, could you upload a picture of the packing the new bulbs came in? Also, I would recommend replacing the fuses with the correct amperage.

Thanks,
Joe

Thanks a lot for your input on how to change the front low beam bulbs.

It sure sounds like a lot of unnecessary work to just change a bulb out.
What were the designers thinking of in this type of design?

If I would go this route to gain access to the bulbs, I might as well go all the way and install a set of HID lights while I was at it.

Thanks again for the helpful answer.
