I have a 1992 buick la sabre custom 170,000 miles 3.8 6 cylinder. It was running great up until about 2 months ago it started "puttering" whenever I would start the car. Sounded like a vacuum leak, but I could not find one. Now it "putters" while the car is in motion. Mostly when I am going up a hill or sitting still at a red light, stop sign etc. Please give me some advise.
THANK YOU !

If you suspect a vacuum leak then it is. Get some carb cleaner. With the vehicle running start spraying vacuum lines (maybe near the intake or transmission). If the motor revs up while spraying a certain line then that is where the leak is. The carb spray will be sucked in at the leak causing the motor to rev up (highly conbustible). If that doesn't work then check any vacuum relays you may have. They may not be opening or closing properly, (pcv valve).
