if you haven't diagnosed a carb befor it's hard to describe how to do it. if your car is stalling, or blowing black smoke on start up, then you need to check the choke pulloff. If you go to www.powerblock mag.com the december edition they have a great step by step way to overhaul a rochester carb which is probably what you have. it gives all the problems assocated with that carb. But also if you hit the gas and ther eis a dead spot and you've tuned the car up it's probably your carb. But again it is very hard to diagnose those to someone who has never done it nor knows what to look for.
