I have a 1990 buick century approx 186000 miles that seems to vibrate at speeds of over 45 mph i'm wondering how serious it is because I am worried I may have an accident because of it. I have been told it may be a balancing problem and it's not that serious

The first place to start is with the tire and wheel condition and balance.
A tire with a slipped belt can balance correctly but still cause a vibration.
A bent wheel can balance ok and still cause problems too. :Wink:

also. Loose or worn font end parts are are important to check for.
