2002 Buick Century side rearview mirrors

The passenger side mirror was broken. I went to the junk yard and got another one. The old one snapped off but now I cant get the replacement one to snap back on. Is there a special trick or tool that needs to be used?

Usually when the mirror head snaps off from the base it's done.

The mirror assembly (including the base) has to be replaced.

The mirror base normally has 3 studs on it that go through the door and then nuts are put on those studs from the inside of the door.
