2002 Buick Century oily substance in cooling fluid

2002 Buick Century 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a 2002 buick centry, I had the oil today and they found an oily substance in the coolant. There are no symtoms of the engine running hot idle is smooth car runs great. What can thi substance be?

Hello,

If it looks like a milk chocolaty color most likely you have a blown head gasket.

Check your transmission fluid level, sounds like the trans cooler in the radiator is leaking, the transmission makes more pressure than the cooling system. If the cooler is leaking, the trans pressure would force fluid into the cooling system.
