1999 Buick Century Engine runs hot while idiling

Engine runs hot while idiling. Cools down when moving. HOWEVER, I can increase the speed of the motor while in park and the engine will begin to cool down.

Check the operation of the cooling fan both at idle and with the speed of engine increased. Your water pump impeller may be failing as well. You would have to remove it to inspect it. Water pumps should be replaced every 60,000-80,000 miles, if this is the original pump it is definitely time to replace it.
