Engine Cooling problem
1998 Buick Century Automatic

1998 buick century.

Put a gallon of 50/50 coolant in radiator this morning (which filled it). Drove about 2 hours before going home. Car parked for about 10 hrs. About 10 miles of driving, temp light came on and low coollant light briefly came on. Able to drive to gas station before car shut off. Let car sit about 10 min. No hissing sounds, no leaks or liquid anywhere on engine. Coolant resovior below hot/cold line. Pour a little coolant in coolant tank. Drove about 6 blocks, temp light on. Car shut off. Let sit another 10 min and able to drive the 6 blocks to my destination. What could it be?

Your car may require a special fill and bleed procedure to purge the air out of the coolant system.

Spending 15 20 bucks for a manual would be a wise investment if you plan on keeping the car for a while.
