1997 Buick Centuty 3.1L V6 97,000 Car had been previously running well until one day when it shut off unexpectedly while driving on the freeway. Ater pulling off the highway, I attempted to restart which it did, and was able to drive another 3 miles before it died again. This time it would crank but not stay running. The check engine light never came. Car is now in the shop and they are stating that the car has no oil pressure. They so far have not been able to tell why but have mentioned about pulling out the motor to "go thru it". Friends have told me that it might just be the timing and that it "jumped" time. Right now I am looking for any type of insight as to what might be the problem.

Dont sound like a low oil pressure. If it was the car would start even without oil in it, you could hear the pistons banging as they work with out oil and oil light would have come on fast. It is possible timing belt and also check the fuel pressure and fuel filter.I wouldnt let them remove engine for that. Take it to another shop.I doubt you have oil pressure problem. But hey I cant see or drive the car. Hey get the ignition control module checked and coils for sure. Sounds like ignition or fuel. Good luck
