Recently aquired the car which has seldom been driven in the last year or so. The first two days I took it on short trips to work and back no problems, the third day the engine stalled but resarted, then later after sitting for a brief period it would start but when I put it into gear and tried to accelerate it would die. I was told it is probably the fuel filter, but I wonder where it is located.

Welcome to the forum, my info says driver side frame rail, close to gas tank. On some models, I can access by removing the driver side rear tire, you will have to double check. Whatever is easiest for you. I'd go ahead and give overall tune-up. Check for codes.

Hi. I am new to the forum, but I have been working on our 1991 Buick for several years. I just recently replace my fuel filter. It is located under the left rear of the car. I must caution you to be careful with the plastic factory connectors. They can be difficult. I hope this helped your situation.
