Broken timing gear

Truck ran fine to town shut it off went into store and came out tried to start and got nothing towed it home figured it had jumped time tore into it and found gear had broken teeth so we replaced the timing gears and chain with on new one tried to start and it acted like there was no compression so we pulled back apart to check timing alignment and it was correct then we pulled the cap to check rotor and it was 180 off we never removed the distributer from the engine could the distributer have jumped that far when the gear broke

Recheck your work you may not have lined it up correctly meaning the timing chain. If installed wrong you get low compression. See picture. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.
