By the way I have a second car. A dented car listed above. The brake pedal feels firm like is working normally but the car does not stop at all. Last time I wound up behind a brand new Ferrari and I had to back off because I was getting too close as I speeds through an intersection. It must have made the owner of that Ferrari very nervous to look in his rear view mirror and see me coming up fast driving a beat up, dented 1975 Mercury Comet barreling down behind him. My brakes was not good.

Hi aspen.
it seems brake pads are too old dried out ,as a first step replace front and rear brake pads, check the rotors for rust , chips, lateral run out ,also check the brake fluid quality replace it if its dirty (black in color)or not replaced more then 2 years. check the guide: https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-replace-front-brake-pads-and-rotors-fwd.

Hello,

Hold pressure on the pedal while you start the engine. When the engine starts, the pedal should drop a 1/4", this indicates that booster is working properly.
1:if not remove vacuum line from the servo booster turn on the engine you must feel strong vacuum, check one way valve it must pass vacuum in one direction, if they are okay then brake booster defected.
2:if yes brake pedal drops, then brake pads are in bad condition bad quality, or too old)or hydraulic brake lines clogged, or it can be caliper pistons rusted and blocked.

Hello,

Have you checked brake caliper pistons if they are working properly? Or the brake pads if they are dried old.
If they are replace brake pads.

If it is worn out it will internally bypass causing the low pedal.
