Brake lights keep going on and off when I drive

I have brought it to 2 different garages. It’s been about 6 times I have brought it back. They have replaced the brake light switch, some cable, the body control module and it has been calibrated many times. The problem is still there. I’m getting really frustrated. Any solution?

Hi,

Is there anything that seems to cause it to happen? Are all the lights affected? Has the body control module connection been checked to confirm nothing is loose or corroded? If you look at the attached pic, it shows where the wires from the switch go to the body control module.

Let me know.

Joe

More than likely due to everything they have replaced, it may be a wiring issue. However, they need to monitor the voltage at the brake switch while this is happening. Also they need to hook up the scan tool and monitor the brake pedal position sensor while this is happening to see if the pedal position sensor is activating them. I suspect it will not which means there is most likely a shorted wire that is causing the brake lights to come on.

Clearly this is a guess based on what you provided but it would be my next step.
