Can I use dot 3 brake fluid in my vehicle?

Hi,

It is recommended to only use the manufacturer's DOT 4 brake fluid. DOT 4 brake fluid is backward compatible with DOT 3 systems. This means you can use DOT 4 in a vehicle that originally used DOT 3 fluid. However, the reverse is not recommended. You should not use DOT 3 fluid in a system designed for DOT 4.
