Replaced a full bonnet lock and latch, everything was fine when bonnet was closed. Now when I put key in turn left it unlocks, but when I turn key right nothing happens.

Hi,

Are you able to get it open at all? It sounds like an adjustment issue. When you installed the new latch, did it work properly at first? Was everything properly tightened?

Let me know
Joe

Just need to open the latch, without destroying my front grill, and I don't want to damage the new lock or cable.

Hi,

I need to determine something. Are you referring to the engine compartment (bonnet) or the trunk area? In the US, the models I mentioned are offered. Additionally, when you say key, in the US that is only in the trunk.

I believe now I understand what you are asking. The key on your vehicle is behind the ford emblem on the front grill. Sorry for the confusion. That is something different than what I see.

When you turn it left it unlocks but the other way, which I believe is the safety latch, doesn't release. Is that correct? Are you able to get between the hood and grill when if first open a small amount?

They never make things easy. LOL Honestly, this may be a job for a body shop. I'm not familiar enough with the design. I'm sorry about that.

Are you able to access the screws to remove it? If so, that would be a good idea.

Got bonnet open, had to pop the pop in screws between the lights and bonnet, either side, then took the whole front grill of in 1 then opened bonnet. As I have changed it all previously I found the fault. It was the plastic bonnet cable clip that was faulty. Ordered new 1 for a few pounds.

Wow. That was a lot, but I'm glad to hear you got it open. By the way, what you described above will most likely be helpful to someone else, so thanks for letting us know.

Take care and have a good weekend.

No problem, when taking the front grill of my 07 plate, you don't need to pop all the clips of, only the 2 outside ones, as it's all clipped together you can wriggle it out, although some front grills are different, you will need to check if it's the same standard grill as my own, cheers
