My BMW 06 X5 3.0 with 18 k miles starts vibratiing when driving around 65-80 mph. It doesn't look like tires or steering. It starts at different speed depending whether driving uphill, flat or downhill. Vibrations stop when gas pedal is released and then start again when accelerating. Becomes really violent if I don't slow down.

Yes I have experienced this issue and there could be several factors involved here. This will require the inspection of the vehicle and I am not able to do that from cyberspace, however, the problems that can cause this can be a tread separation in one or more of the tires or a drive shaft or half shaft being out of balance or perhaps being road damaged, even a bent wheel or a wheel that has had the balancing weights knocked off just to start the list of what it might be. Hope this helps you when you have the vehicle inspected at your "friendly" local BMW dealership. ♥
