Electrical problem
2002 BMW X5 V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual

My FM radio reception has recently become very poor. I've had the spare tyre out a couple of times recently and something may have knocked a wire, but I am unable to see where the aerial or fm booster is located. I've removed the rear plastic cover from inside the rear windscreen and found what could be a fm receiver, however removing the wiring from these did not make the signal worse or better.
Can someone please give some guidance on what to check and where its located.
Many thanks

The diversity antennae is located in the rear glass and is integrated in the heater wires in the glass. One of those modules in the hatch cover is the amplifier. Reconfirm its connections. I will research more and repost later today.

Thanks for your post.
There are two wires that come from the unit within the cover, and run to the glass wires. I noticed that one of the wires within the glass windscreen may have been damaged, and this may have caused the poor reception.
Could I run these two wires to another antenna which I could mount inside one of the rear guards, say above the cd unit?
Thanks again.

I am not sure if you can, but it is worth a try. The radio receiver might be able to interface with a coaxial connector from a "regular" antennae. Keep in touch.
