2001 BMW X5 driver door wont open from outside

Hi my x5 driver door wont open from the outside when u pull the door handle, u have to go inside the car from passenger side and open the driver side from there. What do u think is the problem? Do I have to replace the entire door lock assembly? If so, what do u think is the estimated cost including labor thanks?

There is a great exploded veiw of inside the door of your car at Realoem. Com I would guess the part you need to be the door carrier, part number 51-21-8-243-615 It is fairly easy to install, for me anyway, for you it might not, I dont know your level of commitment. If you want to take it on, let me know, I'll talk you through it.
