2001 Other BMW Models exhaust

My 540 recently started to run rough, and the exhaust was a big snowy white cloud when I started it cold. I thought I had gotten some bad gas, so I put in a water removing additive. Now it runs smoothly, but I still have the billowing white cloud when I start it cold.

Are there other symptoms? Is the coolant level staying normal? Are there any fault codes? What is the repair history?
