2002 BMW 745 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 94000 miles

Sometimes when I'm sitting in traffic with the car idled, smoke comes from the exhaust.

It get more excessive the longer I sit in traffic, but clears immediately once I get on the open road. I've noticed no smell and it doesn't happen each time.

Smoke from the exhaust could indicate several things and I would need to view the entire history of the car to render a meaningful response. It might be the crankcase vent valves require replacement, there is a bulletin on your car for their replacement, has this been completed?
