BRAKE LIGHT

One of the three brake lights will not work. The other two work fine. I have installed all new bulbs. I have moved bulb holder and bulb from a good light to the defective light. The problem is in just that one light. Does each light have an individual fuse for a 1998 BMW 740iL?

Even at 85,000 miles, the car is like new. The wiring looks to be in good condition? I am baffled.

The defective light is the left or drivers side brake light. Everything else on the car works.

It is possible that the tail light assembly is faulty. Remove the affected taillight and inspect the contacts.
If they are not free of pitting and/or corrosion they will require replacement. 9/98 production is where the
cutoff is. If you purchase a replacement be sure to bring the vehicle id # with you. 9/98 is a production change and the parts from early and late production are not interchangeable.
