Dear guy cars,

I have a 00 BMW 740il that stalls when coming to a stop or a quick step on the brakes. Could this be as simple as a fuel filter? It starts right back up, sometimes it will idle, sometimes not. If I keep the car revving at 1000 rpm or so it will not stall. So I have to drive with both feet.

p.S. I'm not a NASCAR driver so this can be a little tricky for me.

I apologize for the late response,
you're going to have to be a little bit more specific like,
when did the problem starts? After you filled up at a gas station? After you took it in for a oil change? After you took it to the shop for some minor repairs? After your wife drove it? Please respond and give me a history, when it started and after.
Thanks.

I agree with Dr. Loot. Also, it could be a PCV valve that has failed, do you know the work history of the car? Has the maintenance been kept up or. Maybe you dont know and it is important for us to know, to render a sound diagnosis.

That is my point precisely, there is no limit of how much characters you can post, I wish that people would read this message and be a little bit more specific with us, we are not mind readers and they make our jobs very difficult, I've had my own shop for many years, and I have figured out one thing, people don't want to tell you the truth that would implicate that it was their fault car broke down (machines only breakdown by abuse, especially with German cars ) when you own German car you own one of the most advanced machines on the face of the planet. I am sure Dr. Hagerty will agree. I just wish people would be honest with us and tell us what really happened! So we can really HELP them.
