Oil leak and cluttering noice

2000 BMW 528i 91,000 miles. When I park my car in the garage, I can see a couple of drops of oil on the floor under the engine compartment. I have recently noticed the engine has a noticable cluttering noise that goes away as I push the gas paddle (i.E. Noise can only be heard when the vehicle is idling). The car runs the  same way as it has been before and the engine oil level hasn't been noticeably low. Any suggestions as to what could be the problem? Thanks.

The oil leak is possibly a seeping gasket or?
Without being there with you I don't know how to help.
The noise could be the deflection pulley getting loud.

Thanks for the massage. The oil leak turned out to be sterring fluid, which I had fixed and no leaks anymorew.

The local mechanic thought the noise was due to damaged tensioners. He replaced those but the noise is still there. Is deflection pulley the same as tensioners? Any other thoughts?

No, the deflection pulley is not part of the tensioner assembly. The part # is 11-28-1-748-130
many is the time I have seen "mechanics" replace
the tensioner assembly because they make more $
on the parts. It is almost always the deflection pulley.
