I recently bought a 97 BMW 528 and the rear air vents located in the back of the center console only blow out cold air. Is this normal or is something wrong with my car? I can make the heat come out of any of the vents in the front but I cannot get heat to blow out of the rear vents. Please let me know if there is a way to fix this or if it is normal?

Scan the system (IHKA) for faults and report

Just wondering if alienpastor found anything out about his rear vents. I'm having the same issue in my 1997 BMW 528.

I never heard back from him. A short test performed with the proprietary BMW software should uncover the fault. The heating and air conditioning system (IHKA or IHKR) on E-39 also has the distinction of being controlled by a computer, software often fixes these issues and without the short test, we will just be guessing.
