Engine Cooling problem
1990 BMW 525i 6 cyl Automatic 250000 miles

Hi, I know this was probably stupid of me but I took my car to the car wash the other day and left it running while I washed it down real quick and then I started smelling a burning smell and smoke from under the hood. POpped the hood and heard a hissing noise and smoke or steam came out, not sure. Started to overheat just as I turned in the driveway. Shut it off and checked all fluids later seemed fine. Still over heating! Looks like a busted gasket near the ignition thing in the engine, water spurting out of it as it over heats. What have I done? And sorry about the lingo I don't know much about cars. Please help!

From what you have described, it sounds as if you have cracked your vehicle's head gasket. This could have been due to cold water hitting a hot running engine causing the crack. Hard to really diagnose it without actually looking at it though, I suggest having a shop look at it to prevent any further damage you may cause by driving it this way.
