Hi, I hope you can help. I have the car listed above it is the 330i E90 with an N52 engine. The oil seal gasket (part number 11377516302) which is for the Ccamshaft adjusting actuator (part number 11377548388) has failed and is leaking oil. I have read online how to remove the camshaft adjusting actuator but I also read that if I am replacing this unit with a new one it will need to be coded as the limit stops have to be relearned which will need access to a BMW scan tool or I think another make of scanning tool called Autologic. However, as I am only replacing the oil seal gasket and refitting the original unit will I need have the limit stops relearned? Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks, Neil

If you are talking about the VANOS, then you can just unscrew it and replace the seal. If same unit and the cam/crank are locked in place it shouldn't need a relearn Here is a YouTube video:

If you are talking about the actuator itself, then you will need special tools to lock the cam and crank in place.
