Hi, I have been driving my 2005 bmw 330xi for about a week with this issue that seems to be getting worse. It started around 55 mph when I hit the gas it would feel like a shaking (very noticeable) coming from the front wheels but when I let off the gas it rode smooth. Now I just came back from about a 2 hour trip and it was shaking pretty hard throughout the whole time I would step on the gas, and when I came to a stop it would sound like it was idling form high to low back in forth but wasn't moving the tack. Lasted for about 30 min then went away than came back about every 15 min for a little shake, can you help me please? Kyle

I don't know exactly what could wrong Kyle, but I would start with a visual inspection with the car up on a lift.

Odd. I have a 2004 330xi and I have the EXACT problem. Been going on off and on for a year now, dealer tells me to fix this or that and last time they said it was brake calipers at $900 and I said forget it. Until you can figure out what is wrong I am not fixing it.

Drove it yesterday and feared for my life, feels like a tire is going to fly off. Today on the Turnpike couldn't do over 45. Scary. Before it was doing it randomly now its persistant.

Took it to an independent BMW Certified Master Mechanic Shop and just talking to the guy he said its not a brake problem. He took the car out and came back and said it didnt' shake, I said WHAT? He put it on a lift and took it out again and returned and he said WOW. That is like a washing machine in the spin cycle and I said yeap, he said its your drive axel. Its bad. I was like great. He said that it won't get better this time around, it will just keep getting worse until it snaps. He said to take it easy on the car, easy starts and when it shakes to let off the gas until I get it fixed. He said $1500 for both front and rear axels (I have all wheel drive) and I nearly had to pick my chin up and put my eyes back in and so I came home and called my friendly dealer and said how much for a front axel and they said roughly around $2,500 - $3,000.00. I said how much for the back. They said the same.

I am so glad I found this guy he only works on BMW's. He knows them inside and out and does the work for half the dealer cost and uses genuine parts.

Oh yeah mine idles funny too. It like surges and the guy said that is part of the problem. Mine used to only shake above 55 so I thought tires. I had the rims checked, put on new tires and now the shaking starts from take off and gets worse the faster you go. Its incredible. It never did it this bad and before it used to go away. I literally am getting a headache driving it, first off I am scared to death its that bad. They guy said it right. Its like driving a washing machine during the spin cycle!

Good luck but its the drive axel.
