I replaced the battery and now when I set the date and time in the computer/navigation screen, turn the engine off and next time I start the date and time are blank again. Do I need to initialize something to make it store the date and time? Any thing else I change in the computer/navigation screen remains and is not lost.

You may not be following the correct procedure. Setting the time/date/year is the procedure, if any of the data is not input, it will revert to the initial screen. Is this helpful?

That's the order I was using: set time /hours/minutes then date day/month/year. The time and date remain and display correctly for as long as I am driving the car, as soon as I turn the engine off, the time and date are blanked out.

Try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, or overnight if you have it garaged.
