For several months now I have been noticing when my car is in drive and sitting idle it is making a squeaking noise. When it is in park or neutral the noise gets much quieter and you can barely even hear it. I'm not sure if it would be the fan belt or something else, and would this be expensive to fix? It's more of an annoyance than anything.

I know what you mean, it is the tensioner pulley assembly or the deflection pulley or both. Go to Realoem.com to see the exploded view and for retail pricing.
