My oil seperator valve went out on my 2005 BMW 325 Ci with 100,000 miles. It broke intake manifold. BMW mechanic priced intake manifold, oil seperator valve, spark plugs, diesel filter repair at $3500. BMW and dealer say not under warranted not recalled. Can I fight this one. Is this a fair price?

Having done several of these repairs in my shop, I have a question in my mind as to how the intake manifold broke? I have never seen one do that. Are you being fed a story?

Thank you for your input. I have had car towed to alternate reputable import repair shop. He has not yet looked at it, however he also said he found it hard to believe intake manifold broke. This repair shop quoted me $2600 for repairs, $900 less than dealer.
