I hve a 325 xi 2004. My indicator light on my dash board indicates my tail light is out. The indicator light goes off and on. Checked lights and all the bulbs are good. What I do notice is that one bulb is out but when I swap it for another buld it comes on.

Inspect for corrosion at the brown wire of the connector at the rear tail lamp assemblies. BMW has a repair kit for it. I often hard wire the ground wire around the connector, it beats spending several hundred for replacements.
