2003 BMW 325 Engine Temp

Engine temperature is normal when idol however when driving temperature falls signficatly

You have a bad thermostat. It is always open. Very common. I just bought one from dealer. Cost is about $80. It comes with the housing and the cooling temp sensor. Hope this helps.

If your mechanically inclined, you can handle it. You dont need any special tools.

The upper rad hose connects to it, on the engine. It comes as an assembly, the whole housing with the sensor on top of it. It costs about 80 from bmw.

It requires special tools. It takes a 36MM end wrench and a holding tool for the pump pulley. You might be able to get it off with a 36MM wrench and a couple of sharp whacks with a hammer to shock it loose. It is left hand thread BTW.
