Hello- I have a 1993 BMW 325i that has engine problems. The neck on the radiator broke while driving which caused the engine to overheat. I replaced the radiator but still have a problem. It's either the head gasket or the block is cracked. If it is the gasket then I think I can replace without huge costs. But if it is the engine block. Well it's scrap! How can I tell if it's just the head gasket without spending a great deal of money?

You really cant. It has been my experience that the head cracks rather than the gasket fails and the block is cast iron, so it is pretty tough. To be sure of the problem, remove the head and have it pressure tested.
