Heater problem
2000 BMW 323 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive 83000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hi there,

I'm wondering if you might be able to tell me what may be causing the floorboard on the front passenger side to get wet (usually after moderate rain). I've also noticed that the heat sometimes works sporadically in spite of the fact that the thermostat has recently been replaced. Could the two things be related?

Thank you.

Maybe just a water leak, but the intermittant heat may also indicate the heater core is leaking as well. Is the coolant level remaining stable?

Water intrusion can be from a poorly fit vapor barrier or from lack of gasketing around the plastic snaps that retain the door panel. Do you mean intermittently the heat does not work or the fan is intermittent? If the fan is the issue then the final stage is the culprit, if the heat itself is the issue then repost to me and we can continue this diagnostic. Dr. Hagerty
