My bmw has had a slight bump (air bags have not been trggerd) crancks over ok but there is no spark or fuel pulse.
tested coil pack ok
tested ecu and all relays using doner vehicle.
checked all wireing to ecu all voltages and signals correct. Checked pulse from crank and cam sensor all ok.
is not fitted with key immubiliser, but has factory fit alarm.

Try testing the engine control module relay in the front power distribution box.

Fuel pump does not prime. Fuel pump relay will not energize when ignition turned on or engine turned over. But I can energize it with a power probe and get the fuel pump to run.
When ignition switched on and relay unplugged red and white wire live, green and violet to the pump negative. Brown and green to ecu no feed and green to earth. When relay connected all wiring stays the same but a live feed down the brown and green wire now accurs. And relay does not energize. Its as if the relay has a short but tried several relays. Many thanks for your help

Check the ECU might not be energizing the FP relay-

There is no signal from ecu to fuel pump relay.
My understanding of this, is that when ignition switched on the fuel pump primes and stops then when a signal is recieved from the cranckshaft sensor
to say the engine is turning the ecu sends a signal for the pump to run, the injectors to inject and spark plugs to fire.
With this in mind I tested resistance of shielding on the cranck sensor to earth it was ok, but when I checked the centre signal wire to shieldig wire it came back 47 ohms resistance. Insted of zero as the other signal wire shows. Is this normal or is there a short to earth in this signal wire? And this is why I am not getting a signal to ecu?
