Hi Guys,
I bought and had installed a basic aftermarket security system called CompuSTAR. Here is what they told me:
The car needs an actuator installed in the drivers door in order to get full functionality of the alarm system because the doors are not electric. I am not so sure they are right. Or maybe they are. I thought the doors were electric? When the key is put in the door lock to lock the door all locks lock at that time. Isn't that actually an electric set-up? Also, the car is apparently factory wired for the Alpine system, but the guy at this shop told me I would still need the CompuSTAR system. SO are they right? Do they need to charge me another $100 to install an actuator to get the keyless entry to work?
Thanks.

They are not well informed at all. The central locking system is accessed through the general module for that year car. Personally, I would not trust most alarm installers unless they have demonstrated skill in BMW cars, the installer you seem to be dealing with does not.
