I replaced my blower motor resistor with a Dorman 973-025 in August. It stopped working last night. Meaning, I got in my truck to drive last night and the feet vent was on 3. No air coming out, I put it on 4 and it worked. I was like what the hell lmao, I just replaced that. Do you think it's a bad blower motor? Is there anything I can do to try and get it to work?

Also, not sure if any of this is relevant. I had it on full heat last night, because it was chilly. It was blowing cold air for about 15-20 minutes before it got warm. Also, about 20 minutes into the drive, 1, 2, and 3 setting started blowing air very very lightly. It was not proper, as it was very clear it wasn't nearly hard enough to be right pressure of air. 1, 2, and 3 were blowing the same speed very lightly warm air, and the main reason I even realized it started was the heat on my feet suddenly. So, is this relevant? I don't know

Let me know what y'all think
I got a refund on it because I told Amazon it was defective, I will buy a new one if I have to but if anybody could give me any tips or any other possible reasons I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you guys,
hope you have a great day

Good morning,

90% of the time, the reason blower resistors fail is due to high current draw from the blower motor. No one takes the time to do a current draw test on the blower motors when these fail.

I would replace both the resistor and the blower motor. I always did that when there was an issue with the resistor.

Yes, the blower motor and the blower motor resistor at the same time.

So, what are you saying? I bought this blower motor resistor in August, replaced my old one, and had working air. Is my new one now broken? Or do I just also have to replace my blower motor? Thank you

From your description, the new one has failed again. It is solid-state.

This time replace the resistor and blower motor.

Okay thank you. As far as how dire this repair is, can I just use the 4 setting, and not worry about it?

Okay, but other than non functioning air, does it damage anything or that's as bad as it gets? I don't really have a lot of time or money and I'm fine with cracking the windows and bundling up, but want to make sure I am not making anything worse.

Got it. As I stated, it will get worse over time and you will lose all the speeds. You will not do any more damage except you will be hot or cold depending on your location.
