In the beginning I heard clicking coming from behind the dash, accompanied with the inability to change temperature. After taking out the glove box, I noticed the source was from the blend door actuator, which went bad. I went to rockauto. Com and got a replacement, and quickly replaced it. It may have been foolish not to disconnect the battery, but I figured that it would not be that big of a job. After plugging it in, I found out that no power goes to the new actuator. Any advice that I could get?

Good afternoon

The battery does not have to be removed for this repair. They key should be off.

I will attach a wiring diagram for you to view. Make sure there is power to the blend door actuator when you command cool or heat. Make sure the connector is not damaged as well. Inspect the pins for any damages or burned pins.

This diagram is for inside the dash, correct? The air also only goes through defrost and and floor, no matter what I set the climate control to. I checked the wires connected to the BDA, and surrounding areas, including fuses. No issues.

If you verified all voltages to the actuators, then you either have a bad actuator or the doors they are moving are seized.

Used a ratchet to see if the doors have any move, they work perfectly. New actuator I ordered must have been damaged on shipping or something because the replacement works great! Thank you.

Hey guys,
I've noticed this real pungent smell in my car lately. Its like a sweet chemical smell. Its been getting progressively worse. My coolant was low the other day so I filled it up and the next day it was low again. The vents have been spraying this smell I'm smelling constantly and fogging up my windows like crazy! My windshield actually turned green while driving! The fumes are getting crazy hard to handle and I can't drive it because it gets hot and the windows fog up.

Could this be my heater core leaking? Are the problems related? How much would getting something like this fixed cost? I'm a poor student who needs to get this fix ASAP.

YEah you have a leaking heater core.

IF you can live without heat, you can by pass the heater core.

Very expensive job. Book time is about 9 hours.

You mean the fan does blow right away? Could be the fan motor. Does it ever not work? If so it is located under the dash pass side, remove plastic shield and tap on it to see if it comes to life

Sometimes when themotors are going out they get sticky like that. Remove the shield under the dash on the passenger side and find the motor. When it doesnt turn on, tap the bottom of it with something and see if it comes on. We will start with the usual problems and go from there

Thank you so much for your quick reply I will let you know if I have anymore problems or if that resolves the issue. If not do I need a new blower motor and does it have a relay?

I dont see any relays in the system. Most likely will be the blower motor, but check the resistor too, it is located next to the blower motor, follow the wires back to it. The resistor controls fan speed, it may be shorted too

Is this an automatic system or manual? The resistor is called that, a resistor or fan speed controller if it is solid state
