Hello, I watched the 454 chevy build. I want to build a 500 plus hp 454, and was wondering how much hp the 454 Camaro had. I know how to turn wrenches and have one successful small block build under my belt. I just don't know what heads, pistons, cams etc, I need.
The videos were awesome, and I plan to refer to them exclusively as I build my engine.

Hey thanks so much for watching the series!

Our big block is making right around that. What really makes power is compression. We are sitting at 9.5:1 I believe, so you could certainly go higher and make even more power on 91 octane. The limit for 91 is 11:1 or so just for reference. The other thing that you can do differently to make more power is get a hotter camshaft. I wanted something a little more streetable but there are so many way hotter camshaft that will make more power than the one I selected.
