Battery drains fast?

Hello, you have a parasitic drain on the battery, meaning a component is staying on when you turn the key off. Do you have a basic multimeter?
And is this a V6 or 4-cylinder engine? You have 4.1lliter 4-cylinder engine, but there is only a 4.0liter V6 or a 2.3liter 4-cylinder engine for the Ford Ranger of that year. If you are unsure, we can look it up by the Vin number.

There is a pretty simple test you can do with a basic multimeter to determine which fuse the drain is on, from there we can determine what that fuse powers up and try unplugging components until the drain is gone.

If you buy a very basic multimeter from Walmart, they are around $20. This one is from Harbor Freight and is only $7. You would just set the meter on DCV 2000m, and with the truck off and the doors all closed, I can walk you through checking the fuses to see which one has current flow through it, this will lead us to the circuit that is draining your battery, and get the issue figured out for you. Since this is an older Ranger, most likely it is just a relay that is stuck on causing this issue. There are not a lot of complicated computer modules in it.
